I have been battling Lyme for about 10 months now and research Lyme constantly since I am continuously finding new problems in my health. I have always been very healthy and never had any health issues until last September when I was diagnosed with Lyme Meningitis and Ehrlichiosis. My most recent issue is stomach issues. But your blog perfectly explains everything I have been going through but haven't been able to put it in words.Thank you and God bless!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07680344907452197357noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7348581067636108119.post-50331689465561734162012-06-27T07:40:37.166-07:002012-06-27T07:40:37.166-07:00Andrew, sorry to hear about the Lyme disease dx, b...Andrew, sorry to hear about the Lyme disease dx, but it's always good to KNOW what's going on!

Best wishes and prayers to you and your family....JoAnnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04506998760851891610noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7348581067636108119.post-7537071260563335672012-06-26T22:36:12.941-07:002012-06-26T22:36:12.941-07:00Thank you for this.

I know what you mean by your life being stolen by Lyme. :(

As to the smoking issue, I read something about it in Connie Strasheim's book, Insights into Lyme Disease, where one of the Lyme doctors just flat out says that, in her experience, smokers will never get rid of Lyme until they stop smoking.

Regarding gluten, Lyme is notorious for mimicking and/or triggering autoimmune diseases; in some people it actually mimics celiac or Crohn's disease, and going gluten free helps a great deal if you're one of those unfortunate people!

Many LLMDs recommend avoiding carbs and gluten in any case because carbs feed the bacteria, and if you're on antibiotics they also feed the yeast in your system, making you more prone to yeast infections.

Avoiding gluten is helpful for anyone, because even if you're not that sensitive to it, it acts as an inflammatory agent (try Googling "gluten inflammatory" and you'll get lots of hits!), and the less inflammation in your system the better you'll feel!

Best wishes to you...you're in my thoughts and prayers!

((((((hugs))))))JoAnnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04506998760851891610noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7348581067636108119.post-82945831967694089232010-12-08T11:06:50.142-08:002010-12-08T11:06:50.142-08:00Good Post. Everything you say is on target - I just wonder where you got some of your facts so I can use them - particularly, Lyme contributing or causing gluten intolerance, the smoking bits and like that.
